Joan Baert joins ACV’s advisory board with experience in prevention, education, and nonprofit leadership. After 25 years as a public school teacher and educational leader, Joan switched careers and came to lead a substance use prevention nonprofit, using her understanding of kids, families, schools, and community engagement to build sustainable programs that create change at the community level. Joan is currently serving as a prevention specialist for Easterseals MORC, working with kids and families across Oakland County. Joan lives in Wixom with her husband Brian and is a proud mom of four young adult children (scattered across Michigan) and one spoiled Australian Shepherd (rarely more than a foot away from her!).
