Caryn Baird is a special education teacher with 14 years of experience helping students with diverse academic, social, and behavioral needs find their footing. At Holly Middle School, she

co-teaches 6th grade math and English, runs the resource room for grades 6 through 8, and teaches three sections of special education English across those same grades. It is a return

to her roots, working with kids at the age they need support most.

Her students' needs span other health impairment, autism, emotional impairment, cognitive impairment, and specific learning disabilities, and she builds instruction and behavior

supports around each one. She came to Holly in 2026 after opening a brand-new Level IV classroom at Leonard Elementary in Troy, building its routines and instructional systems

from the ground up and leading a team of paraprofessionals. Before that, she co-taught English 10 at Avondale High School, where every student on her caseload graduated. She began her career at University Preparatory Academy in Detroit.

Her work centers on independence, self-advocacy, and functional life skills, and on being a steady, courageous voice for students who need someone in their corner.
